It’s odd that while Europe is experiencing a deadly cold front, it’s still bright and sunny here in good ol’ America.
Last night’s speaker spoke about the life of French composer Olliver Messaien, and included were reincarnations of his pieces, performed by a pianist and a singer. The chapel was split into 2 self segregating groups: the ones who chose to be there (who were primarily about 85 or older), and and the students whose professors made them go. Even the University’s president was fighting to stay awake. I kept myself engaged by writing down all the French words I didn’t know, and their translation. Par example: “J’ai peur d’être laide” = I am afraid of being ugly. “Laide = ugly”.
